Temporary Closure of the Seven Sisters Dam Crossing
The Trans Canada (Pinawa’s Great Trail) Trail near Seven Sisters will be closed weekdays between today to Jan 17th for scheduled upgrades.
Due to scheduled upgrades to reinforce wooden stop logs at Seven Sisters Generating Station in spillway bays 2, 3 and 4 the Seven Sisters’ spillway deck will be closed today until January 10 in the evening. The spillway deck will reopen for the weekend of January 11 and 12 and then be closed again from 7 am to 6 pm the week of January 13 to January 17.
Residents who use Pinawa’s Great Trail, around the Seven Sisters Generating Station, may notice construction equipment in the area including divers in the water around the dam.
Seven Sisters Generating Station is our largest producer of electricity on the Winnipeg River. It was built in two stages – construction started in 1929, and was completed in 1952.
