2025 Information below

Please be aware that there are designated paid parking areas in Pinawa  ('Pinawa Paid Parking Areas')

Why are we charging for parking?

Parking charges are implemented to recover the costs of making Pinawa serviceable for visitors.

Services such as waste collection, washroom and parking lot maintenance, and urban/natural upkeep are expenses to provide a positive experience for both visitors and residents.

The revenue collected from parking fees is meant to recover this cost, fund the community’s economic and recreational vitality, and to protect the natural beauty of this town for all to enjoy.

Thank you for visiting our community!

Purchasing a day pass at a parking location allows full day access to all Pinawa Paid Parking Areas.

The following parking areas require payment in 2026:

  • Diversion Dam (Channel float start)
  • Pinawa Suspension Bridge (Channel float end)
  • The Sundial
  • East side of Willis Drive with access to the beach, pool, the marina and boat launch

Signage will indicate which parking areas are paid access.
The Pinawa Paid Parking Areas are shown on this map in yellow:

Parking in all areas costs $10.00. If you are not a resident of Pinawa, parking day passes are available at any of the parking locations through Pinawa’s payment system (HONK website)

  1. QR codes will be posted at all parking locations
  2. Scan the QR code with a smartphone and access the link
  3. From there, you can pay on your phone with a credit card, Paypal, Apple Pay or Google Wallet

Signage will indicate if the area is Pinawa paid parking.

No. Once you have paid for parking in one area, your payment applies to all Pinawa paid parking areas for the day for that vehicle.

A day pass is valid until midnight of the day it was purchased.

Scan the posted QR code using your smartphone at the area you want to park in. Input your license plate into our HONK software.

Payment types accepted are credit card, Paypal, Apple Pay and Google Wallet

This online payment system is the most eco-friendly and convenient setup for taking parking payments. Unfortunately, we are not accepting cash transactions to pay for parking or handing out paper slips to indicate payment. However, there are a couple of alternative options to paying for parking if you do not have a smartphone or credit card.

  1. Ask another visitor at the parking site to input your license plate into HONK and repay them with cash.

  2. Come visit the Municipal Office at 36 Burrows Drive during regular hours (8:30-4:30)

As long as the vehicle that is parking in a paid parking area is registered under a Pinawa resident parking permit, residents are not required to pay to park, per existing policy. See the Resident's Parking Permit page for more information on resident parking permits.

If you are not a resident of Pinawa, you will have to pay to park when accessing your boat at the marina. A reminder that seasonal parking passes are available for $20/season for each vehicle. Residents of Pinawa are able to park for free at the marina, provided the vehicle that is parking there is registered under a Pinawa Resident Parking Permit

Yes. Because access to the Pinawa Pool is a paid parking area, it is still required to pay for parking when attending a swimming lesson. However, a $20 seasonal parking pass per vehicle is available for purchase

Seasonal parking passes can be purchased by anyone for $20/season. Note that purchasing a seasonal parking pass only covers one vehicle. Additional passes must be purchased for additional vehicles.

Select portions of Burrows Road, Alexander Avenue, McGregor Crescent, McDiarmid Road, and Athlone Avenue are Resident-Only Parking Zones. Only vehicles registered under a Pinawa parking permit are permitted to park in these areas. Please be aware of these resident parking zones, and recognize that parking in these zones if you are not a resident of Pinawa will result in being ticketed.

Visitors are also reminded that Pinawa is a residential town and obstructing a roadway, access to a home/driveway or public institution is not permitted.

A reminder that parking is not permitted on Vanier Avenue between Willis and Burrows. It is also against our bylaws to park on the circular portion of a cul-de-sac or on a side of the street with even numbered properties

No. There is no charge to park to visit the Cemetery. Please do not use the designated parking stalls if this is not the reason for your visit, as the Cemetery parking stalls are reserved for visitors to the Cemetery only.

If you pay to launch your boat, you do not have to pay to park in the boat launch parking area or in the Sundial parking area.

However, if you wish to park in a different area, such as the Suspension Bridge or the Diversion Dam, you will have to pay to park in the areas that do not accompany the boat launch.
